Happiness

The rain came at last, and the flowers and vegetables are happy. There is gratitude on the face of the rose, and the chard leaf embraces and holds all the raindrops it can. I'm happy to see the plants happy. I'm also very happy that Bonnie Jo Campbell will be here in only two days! That's right, at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 5, at Dog Ears Books we will welcome the author of Once Upon a River to Northport, and I can hardly wait. That is, it would be hard to wait if the days were not already so brimming full.

Sarah has a new best friend. She and Zeva, full of boundless happiness and nearly boundless energy, have no idea that their morning play will only last a week and not forever. When Zeva nears our house, she begins to turn her head and look for Sarah, and when Sarah spies Zeva outside, she actually barks!

Does it look more like fighting than playing? If you have a dog who loves to rough-house, if you were ever a boy or a tomboy, you'll understand how much fun these two are having.

See how happily they share their fresh water when they stop to take a break?

A tired dog is a happy dog. Sarah will be more content to spend another day in the bookstore now that she's had such a fantastic morning with her new best friend.

Awww...wish they could stay together and play longer than a week! But glad on the other hand they have the week together. I feel like I'm so far behind this week on everyone's blog. Will try to catch up.

Nothing is forever, but Sarah and Zeva are making the most of every minute they have together, and it's a joy to witness their happiness. Katie is probably too much a little lady to rough-house in this tomboy way, isn't she?

Glad to hear you are happy and the vegetables are happy and the puppies are happy! Those are the best kind of days.

Kathy, now it's only half an hour until Bonnie Jo Campbell is scheduled to be here. Yes, these are happy times. Vacation will bring happiness, too, though, if it ever comes! :)

Katie has never been interested in playing, even when she was a puppy at puppy socialization. She just doesn't socialize. She's always been a people dog. At the puppy class I wouldn't pick her up, she was supposed to be getting used to other dogs. So she'd go up to some other person and stand on her hind legs, feet on their knees and ask to be picked up. It worked every time. Little stinker.

Just as I imagined--Katie is a princess. Well, Katie is a princess princess, and Sarah is a tomboy princess. I'll share pictures of Sarah and Zeva's last morning play session soon....

Miss Sadie and the Cowboy have formed the opinion that Sarah is Queen of an exceptionally fine realm. A Queen who likes to roughhouse with them. In short, perfect.

Rowdy play! Sarah says, "Bring it on!" Do the Cowboy and Miss Sadie ever look over your shoulder when you're online? Zeva's last vacation play morning with Sarah can be viewed at
