Take a Road Trip (I’m Too Busy)

Our house is in an uproar, with boxes of dishes and boxes of cans and boxes of utensils all over the house (everywhere but in the kitchen), and we are busy, busy, busy. I spent four hours Saturday at my bookstore and had some visitors and sold a few books, but the main focus of the weekend has been and continues to be our house, as you see here.

So what I’m suggesting is that you visit a few bookstores in Washington, D.C. and some if not all of the other blogs listed in the right-hand column of this page. I just don’t have time (or energy) to write more today.

There are so many stories here which I can read in your photos. Thanks for sharing them.

I am intensely envious and very happy for you. I am also laughing out loud. Remodeling is so much fun . . .

One whole story, Deborah, is that of Jason's tool belt, which weighs somewhere between 30 and 50 pounds and which he actually wears for many hours a day. Are you laughing at how tired you know we must be, Gerry? Yes, Dawn, we are excited...and thrilled...and happy...and grateful...and exhausted! End of Round 1, and now it's time to regroup and recuperate. Thanks for stopping in to share our news.

This looks great, Pamela! I'm looking forward to our next trip north to see it all "in person."

That heavy tool belt probably constitutes an all-day workout and keeps Jason from having to go to the gym.

Wow! What a transformation! Now some paint (which I know at least one of you is good at.) And what a sink! You can wash a baby in that!

Bettie, there will be a lot more changes before you get here to see it in person. Not rushing to throw paint on the walls yet, Susan. More work on the drywall first (in a couple of weeks). We don't have a deadline on the job, other than getting it done before spring--just because.

Amy-Lynn e-mailed: "I'm still not able to comment today but wanted to let you know what a beautiful sink you have. Dishwashing is going to be so much fun. :)" Yes, it's glorious washing dishes in a new sink!
