Moving On With Eyes Open Very Wide

No, Sarah is not in jail. Hardly! She spent a couple of days with her folks in the lap of luxury, visiting a friend of mine in Carefree, up north of Phoenix. In the image above, she is enjoying the back patio garden. We, the humans, ate, drank, lounged, relaxed, chatted, yakked, shared pictures and stories, stayed up late, and soaked up sunshine and the beautiful desert blooms. Sheer heaven! David and I were especially proud of Sarah's good behavior; her only error was trying to give more kisses than anyone wanted.

When the time came to take to the road again, we circled around Cave Creek to the Carefree Highway and then turned north, making a stop at Arcosanti before continuing toward Jerome and Sedona, winding up the day – literally winding – on the road through Oak Creek Canyon from Sedona to Flagstaff. But pictures will tell the story better than words, so here is some of what we saw along today’s beautiful route.

Is that a one day drive from carefree Wilcox to easygoing Carefree? :)

Helen, is that a doggie kiss for Sarah?

BB, Willcox to Carefree would be a much shorter drive without a detour to Oracle, plus lunch and poking around there.

Gorgeous red rock, blue sky images, Pamela. I had to wonder whether the large red sculpture is a Calder. So similar to those I've seen in GR, but without the pleats.

Apparently this sculpture has gone through different phases and has been different colors. I don't know who the original artist was but will keep looking. Meanwhile, here are some more images:
