Busy, Rainy, Clearing

This is the sign you'll be looking for tomorrow on Horn Road, where Circa Estate Winery will host a reception for paintings by David Grath from 5 to 7 p.m. We're all keyed up in our house, as you might imagine.

Here's a shot of the sign from the other direction. Horn Road runs between M-204 and Eagle Highway.

And here's the winery atop the hill. Of course, the best will be inside, the wine and the art.

Posters for David's show went up a week ago, but this morning I began touring northern Leelanau County to put up posters for Dean Robb's book signing and reception a week from today at Dog Ears Books. Lake Leelanau looked wild under shifting clouds and rain.

But the rain was only patchy, and rainbows kept appearing. It's just after 11 a.m. as I post this, the sun has broken through in Northport, and I wouldn't be surprised if today turned out gorgeous.

I took lots of rainbow photos earlier in the week.

I find them hard to photograph, partly because the best ones I see are over Grand Traverse Bay as David is at the wheel so I can't just pull over and stop. (He would stop, but it isn't the same.)

I'm looking forward to it wholeheartedly but with two minds: Do I want to be a photographer or just enjoy the party? You'll find out!

Nice rainbow! (You knew I'd love the rainbow, right?) I'm astonished at how many leaves have fallen over there already.

I'm sure you'll do whatever is best when you and your two minds walk in the door tomorrow. Just be sure to be there!

Have a wonderful time.

Well, Gerry, I discharged my camera batteries overnight and will recharge them today. (Must go put them in the charger before I forget.) The sky did not clear yesterday, but this morning is bright and clear. Leaves? The photos yesterday were not representative of the county. In fact, the row of poplars just down M-22 before Jelinek road are still green, I noticed yesterday. Soon the leaves will begin turning yellow and falling to the ground like piles of shining coins--but not yet.

My two minds, right! We are so happy with the gorgeous weather.

Nice rainbow photo! On Saturday I was driving up Old Mission just before 11 am and I look to my left towards Leelanau and I see a small rainbow in the sky. Been seeing lots of rainbows recently... good omen! :)

Okay, now I'm glad I posted the rainbow photo, though my photographs of rainbows always seem a very pale reflection of what I saw with my own eyes. But I wonder if any of you can see (speaking of pale reflections) the ghostly, much lighter, echoing rainbow to the left of the obvious one? It was really there, I swear!
