New Dog in Town

Visualize Waukazoo Street in Northport as the upright of a T, with Nagonaba Street as the crossbar. Now head up north past Dog Ears Books and hang a right. There! On your left is the Northport Bay Dog and Cat Company, where Jamie Covert will happily groom your Fido or Fifi and where you’ll also find pet products for sale. About time the home of the dog parade (and many pet-friendly businesses) had its own business catering to our furry friends. Jamie, welcome to downtown!

I'm thrilled to hear about a new business opening in Northport, and this one in particular since we recently welcomed a puppy into our home. Chloe will definitely pop in when we're up there--have they considerd supplying costumes for the dog parade this summer?

Dorene, what kind of pup is Chloe? I'll have to ask Jamie about the costume business. Sally (of Dolls and More) did have some outfits for dogs last year, and the Pennington Collection had some pet stuff, too, but for Jamie this is the focus. By the way, I'm enjoying your blog!

I think it would be a feather in the cap of the town - the cat's meow - the top dog - if all Northport businesses opened their doors to man's (and woman's) proverbial best friend. Here's to Northport becoming Dog Capital of the North and maybe south, east and west as well.

z, my Dog Ears Books bookmark all summer read "Well-behaved dogs and special orders welcome," and my husband still has a sign on his gallery door (though he's seldom there these days) that says "Browsers and bowsers welcome." There is a "mutt-mitt" dispenser down by the marina. We could probably use more at various parks.
